“The best journalism is sometimes about footnotes—when we find a small thread and pull it, and it unravels a story that’s bigger than anyone imagined.”
— Rachel Maddow
Professional Philosophy
I am a journalist, documentary filmmaker, and storyteller with a passion for exploring the people, places, and experiences that shape our communities. I recently earned both a Master of Arts in Journalism and a Master of Fine Arts in Documentary Filmmaking from Michigan State University, where I developed a deeper understanding of the power of storytelling across multiple forms of media.

My work is guided by a belief that stories have the ability to inform, connect, and inspire change. I strive to create work that is thoughtful, authentic, and centered on the lived experiences of real people. I am particularly interested in stories of resilience, community rebuilding, and the ways individuals and organizations respond to challenges and adversity.

Throughout my academic and professional journey, I have focused on researching how journalists can better report on communities recovering from tragedy. I believe responsible storytelling requires not only accuracy and accountability but also empathy, respect, and a commitment to representing people and their experiences with dignity. These values continue to shape the way I approach every project.

As a storyteller, I am drawn to work that bridges information and human connection. My goal is to produce content that helps audiences better understand one another, encourages meaningful conversations, and preserves stories that might otherwise go untold. Through this portfolio, I share a collection of work that reflects my commitment to impactful storytelling, community engagement, and lifelong learning.
